Master Systems Integration

With the ever-evolving technology landscape and increasing interoperability challenges, this is where our role as Master Systems Integrator (MSI) comes in.

At B-MS-I, we ensure that the different systems in your building communicate seamlessly, allowing your facility to operate efficiently. Whether it’s programming middleware, such as Tridium, to connect legacy systems and share data, or collaborating with sub-contractors to unlock the full potential of their equipment, we make sure the right systems are talking to each other.

Effective data utilisation is key to optimising the performance of your building, reducing costs, and increasing efficiency. As your MSI, we ensure that data from key systems—BMS, lighting, security, and fire safety—is sent via MQTT to your chosen endpoint. Our solution is cloud-agnostic, meaning your data can be ingested into any platform, whether it's AWS, Azure, or another, ensuring flexibility if you switch providers in the future. Cloud integration offers significant benefits like scalability and centralised data management.

To ensure this data is useful across multiple buildings, it's important to follow established standards such as Building Device Naming Standards (BDNS) and Digital Buildings Ontology (DBO). We work closely with sub-contractors to validate that the data captured meets the required standards for your project.

One challenge we've identified in many projects is that various trades often lack experience with smart buildings and what’s required for integration. As the MSI, we act as the bridge between the trades and the client, ensuring the client’s vision for a smart building is understood and helping the trades configure their equipment to communicate with other systems and the cloud.

Building Management Systems

Data capture is becoming increasingly important in modern building projects, and having a BMS software anre graphics team that is also skilled in Master Systems Integration (MSI) is crucial for saving time and streamlining the entire process.

At B-MS-I, we specialise in BMS Niagara and EasyIO software and graphics, particularly for systems like air handling units, chillers, pumps, water meters, energy meters, electrical meters, fan coil units, and variable air volume (VAV) units. We utilise Niagara by Tridium, one of the industry’s leading software platforms for BMS development and deployment. Its comprehensive capabilities make it an excellent choice for creating reliable, scalable systems.

EasyIO is a cost-effective controller ideal for edge devices like fan coil units and VAV units. With its built-in MQTT management page, integrating these devices into cloud platforms becomes seamless, offering both flexibility and efficiency.

The Niagara platform is widely recognised for its robust features and intuitive graphics, allowing Facilities Management (FM) teams to monitor and respond to alarms and events in real time. This provides a clear visual understanding of system performance, empowering FM teams to take immediate action and maintain optimal building conditions.

Device Testing

Firmware and software updates for devices are often overlooked in projects, with some systems running on outdated firmware from as far back as four years ago. This not only compromises sustainability but also poses a significant security risk. One key purpose of our device testing service is to evaluate existing or proposed devices for both security vulnerabilities and interoperability issues. For devices with outdated firmware, we also identify outdated software versions, which makes them vulnerable to the latest and most advanced security threats. Worse yet, a compromised device can jeopardise the security of your entire network.

Interoperability is another essential aspect of our device testing. Even with older devices, such as those with four-year-old firmware, we explore secure methods to extract data and integrate them into your building's data lake.

To assess vulnerabilities, including new security exploits that emerge daily, we conduct Nessus scans on each device before it is added to your corporate network. We work closely with manufacturers to address these issues, and once the devices are re-tested and cleared of vulnerabilities, they can be safely integrated into your network.

At B-MS-I, we are committed to providing peace of mind by ensuring that all devices in your building are updated with the latest firmware and are free from known exploits.
